Turnpike Maps

The Oklahoma Turnpike Authority came into existence in 1947, and the first Turnpike to open was the Turner Turnpike, which runs from Oklahoma City to Tulsa, a distance of 86 miles.  It now has the dual designation as Turner Turnpike and I-44.

Construction on the Turner Turnpike started in 1949 and it opened on May 16, 1953

The Turner Turnpike was followed by the following nine (9) other Turnpikes:

Will Rogers Turnpike, Tulsa To Missouri State Line, a distance of 89 miles.  It now has the dual designation as Will Rogers Turnpike and I-44, and was opened June 28, 1957

H. E. Bailey Turnpike, Oklahoma City to Randlett, a distance of 86 miles.  It now has the dual designation as H. E. Bailey Turnpike and I-44, and was opened April 23, 1964

Indian Nation Turnpike, Henryetta to Hugo, a distance of 105 miles.  41 mile north section was opened on January 1, 1966, and the 64 mile south section was opened August 21, 1970

Muskogee Turnpike, Tulsa to I-40, a distance of 53 miles, and was opened October 16, 1969

Cimarron Turnpike, Tulsa to I-35 and Stillwater, a distance of 59 miles, opened May 16, 1975.

Cherokee Turnpike, Locust Grove to Flint Creek, a distance of 33 miles.  Opened September 1, 1991

John Kilpatrick Turnpike, located in Oklahoma City, has a distance of 25 miles.  First section opened in 1991, last section opened in 2001.

Chickasaw Turnpike, Sulphur to Roff, a distance of 17 miles.  Opened September 4, 1991

Creek Turnpike, Tulsa By-Pass, a distance of 33 miles.  First section opened Summer of 1992, last section opened August 15, 2002.
